So What Is Flyball ?
A fast and furious if sometimes chaotic, exciting and fun way of exercising yourself and your dog.
Teams of 4 dogs of all shapes and sizes compete in a relay race down a course of 51ft with four hurdles, when the dog reaches the end of the course, he triggers a special box, which releases a tennis ball. The dog has to catch the ball and return up the course, when the next dog goes.
Teams compete in a round robin competition with 5 or 6 other teams. Racing is best of five runs. Winning teams gain rosettes and also score points based on the total time for the team. The points are awarded to competing dogs and when a dog has gained 200 points he becomes an official flyball dog.
Some dogs have acheived as high as 80,000 points!
